Chapter Four: Building the Logger

Seeing how miserable Big Bear and Little Bear looked, Jiji, Maomao, and the others quickly fled as well. At this moment, Su He stepped forward, holding a loudspeaker in hand. "Robots ahead, listen up. I know the people behind you can hear me. I am the forest ranger here. Unauthorized logging is strictly prohibited. If you do not leave immediately, you will face serious legal consequences."
Boss Li, seated on the sofa, glanced at Su He through the robot and sneered. "A forest ranger? Legal consequences? You really think such things can stop me from making money? What a naive fantasy."
The robot stared at Su He and Bald Strong. [Detected unidentified human interference with work.]
[Eliminate! Eliminate!]
"Xiao He, leave this to me," Bald Strong said, picking up a large rock nearby, preparing to hurl it at the robot. The robot simply waved its hand, and with a scream, Bald Strong was flung away.
"Alright, Bald Strong, how dare you team up with outsiders against me!" Boss Li, seeing this, angrily smashed the wine glass in his hand.
Su He recalled that the robot had a secret compartment with two buttons inside, one red and one blue. The red button was presumably a self-destruct mechanism. She began searching and finally found the secret compartment on the robot's left side. Just as she was about to open it, the robot noticed her. It scooped up a handful of snow from the ground, forming a snowball, and hurled it at Su He.
"Damn!" Seeing the flying snowball, she quickly dodged to the side. Before she could breathe a sigh of relief, the robot’s mechanical arm swung towards her again. Caught off guard, Su He was instantly thrown backward.
"Damn it," Su He clutched her chest, unable to stop herself from coughing up blood. "Cough, cough... that hurts."
At that moment, Big Bear and Little Bear got up. Seeing Su He coughing blood, they hurried over, lifted him up, and also helped Bald Strong to his feet.
"Big Bear, Su He is coughing up blood after being beaten. What should we do now?"
"Ah, let’s not waste time talking. First, we’ll get Xiao He and Bald Strong back home. We’ll deal with the robot later."
Seeing no one stopping the logging, the robot resumed its work. Behind it, Boss Li laughed uproariously.
"Hahaha, Bald Strong, weren’t you so tough? You think you’re something special? Try messing with me again. You want to stop me from making money? Dream on."

Back at Bald Strong’s cabin, Big Bear and Little Bear carefully placed the battered Su He on the bed.
"Su He, how are you feeling now?" Big Bear asked with concern.
"Cough, cough, I’m fine. Just need a couple of days to recover," Su He replied weakly.
"Alright then, leave the robot to us. You stay home and rest for a couple of days. Don’t move around too much. Benben and the others will take care of you." Big Bear grabbed Little Bear and Bald Strong, and the three headed out to stop the robot.
"Wait, Big Bear. When I tried to stop the robot earlier, I noticed a secret compartment on its left side with two buttons—one red and one blue. I think the red button might be the self-destruct. See if you can find a chance to use it," Su He reminded them.
"Really? That would be great."
After a long silence, Bald Strong spoke up. "Big Bear, Little Bear, you go stop the robot first. I’ll use my genius brain to build a super invincible logging machine to take it down."
"You? You’ve never beaten us with that junk you built before," Little Bear shot down Bald Strong’s dream mercilessly.
"You—you don’t believe in me, Bald Strong?"
"Oh, wow, so impressive," Little Bear sarcastically maxed out the mockery.
"Alright, Little Bear, I believe Bald Strong can succeed," Su He recalled the logging machine. Though not as powerful as the robot, it was still formidable.
"Okay, Little Bear, let’s go stop the robot." Big Bear pulled Little Bear along and ran out.
"Xiao He, rest well here. When Bald Strong finishes building the super invincible logging machine, he’ll trounce that robot and avenge you." With that, Bald Strong dashed toward his workshop.
Lying on the bed, Su He thought to himself, "Big Bear, Little Bear, and Bald Strong are all protagonists. Even after being pummeled by the robot, they’re fine. But I, after just one blow, am in this state, coughing up blood. If those were villains in the future, I’d probably be reduced to ashes."
"No, I must become stronger. Otherwise, how will I interact with those heroines later? Cough, cough, that sounded wrong. Becoming stronger is what matters; everything else is secondary." Su He suddenly remembered that the dumpling on White Bear Mountain was the mountain god. Could there be an inheritance? If so, the future challenges would be a breeze.
Lying there, Su He recalled, "I remember during the Bear Arrival festival, that robot was defeated by Bald Strong’s festival gear. But judging by how the plot is unfolding now, it seems like a combination of festival gear and New Year’s items. Since Bald Strong no longer has the festival gear to defeat the robot, it must be his logging machine now."

"Really, other travelers either have systems, mysterious skills, or old master mentors. But I, Zhao Lin, Naya, Beth, Xiao Ke, and Su Luo have nothing—completely broke, with nothing at all. If this continues, they’ll all drift further and further from me."
"Right, and there’s still Boss Li to deal with. I must report to the higher-ups immediately. Damn it, how dare he make me cough up blood? I’ll make sure he spends the rest of his life behind bars."
Meanwhile, Bald Strong was busy with his tools, sparks flying as he worked, singing as he went:
"Screws and nails in hand, rusty old truck, I’m upgrading, no one helping, I carry it all alone. The great super logging machine, the invincible iron giant..."
After a long while, looking at the massive logging machine before him, Bald Strong laughed joyfully.
"Hahaha, finally finished! Robot, just you wait and see."
In the forest, Big Bear and Little Bear looked at the barren snowy ground where the woods had once stood.
"Big Bear, our home is destroyed," Little Bear’s eyes shimmered with tears.
"Damn it! How dare they chop down so many of our trees? I will never let them go unpunished," Big Bear clenched his paws, filled with burning rage.
"Big Bear, Little Bear," Bald Strong ran over.
"My logging machine is ready. When the robot shows up tomorrow, we’ll stop it."
"Great! You really came through, Bald Strong. But before that, we need to discuss our plan." Big Bear looked at Little Bear. "Little Bear, go gather all the animals in the forest. We need to carefully plan our attack for tomorrow."
"Okay."
