Zhou Lin’s face was expressionless, but his eyes were deeply darkened with gloom.
Shen Zhao had never seen him like this.
They had been together for three years, and he had never lost his temper with her, let alone show such a look.
Suddenly, Shen Zhao felt as if the Zhou Lin she once knew was not truly him.
“There’s no other man,” Shen Zhao said painfully as he gripped her. “I came to Rong City for a business trip, and I came with President Zhou. If you don’t believe me, go ask President Zhou yourself.”
Zhou Lin loosened his grip slightly but still locked his gaze on her, as if weighing the truth of her words.
Shen Zhao felt a wave of sadness.
“Zhou Lin, the one who really cheated is you. The one who’s dirty and unworthy of touch is you. What’s the point of saying these things and doing these things now?”
Zhou Lin’s eyelids twitched, and the coldness in his eyes retreated.
Yet he still held her hand.
Shen Zhao tried to pull away but couldn’t. She gave up struggling and stayed still.
Zhou Lin lowered his head, pressing his nose against hers. “Zhao Zhao, I like you. Let’s make up, okay?”
Zhou Lin, with his reckless playboy charm, always wielded gentleness as his ultimate weapon.
With his looks and charisma, even without the identity of the Second Young Master Zhou, any woman he desired would be easily won over.
Shen Zhao herself had once fallen for him.
They had briefly met when they were young. Back then, she was bright and radiant, unaware that he was the second son of the Zhou family.
But when they met again at eighteen, she was forced by circumstances to work to support her family; her grandmother’s heart condition required a large sum of money, and she had no choice but to work as a hostess at her aunt’s karaoke bar.
In the smoky, dimly lit private room, Zhou Lin toyed with a lighter in one hand, a playful look on his face.
When a companion’s hand touched her waist, he stepped forward decisively and took her away without a word.
“Why do you do this?” he asked.
“I have no choice.”
“Short on money?”
Shen Zhao remained silent.
Zhou Lin asked, “How much do you need?”
His straightforwardness, not questioning her past or reasons, was like a lifeline—preserving her dignity while pulling her out of the mire.
When trapped in despair, Shen Zhao had no choice but to grasp at this straw.
“I’ll pay you back.”
Zhou Lin chuckled softly, “You don’t have to. You can repay me another way.”
At twenty, Zhou Lin was tall and leggy, with striking, alluring features and mischievous peach blossom eyes—a true dashing playboy.
Any woman would be powerless to resist his kindness and gentleness.
Especially eighteen-year-old Shen Zhao.
Zhou Lin never touched her then; she thought it was because he cherished her. She never imagined that years later, she would hear him call her dirty.

Memories cut like a dull blade, slicing flesh inch by inch.
Shen Zhao lowered her eyes, whispering, “It’s over between us. There’s no chance anymore. Zhou Lin, we were never from the same world. Forcing ourselves together won’t end well.”
Zhou Lin gripped her tightly. “What if I insist on forcing it?”
Shen Zhao looked up steadily at him. “I don’t mind going down with you. I’m already a worthless life, and your precious Second Young Master life—do I even need to say how much it’s worth?”
A flash of desolation passed through Zhou Lin’s eyes.
Just as Shen Zhao thought he would let go, Zhou Lin suddenly lifted her up and pinned her to the bed.
“Why should any other man touch you?”
Zhou Lin pressed her legs apart, looking down at her with disdain.
His fingers brushed over her pale lips.
Shen Zhao sensed his reaction and her face changed drastically. “Zhou Lin, you’re a lawyer. You know better than I do that this is illegal—rape!”
Zhou Lin stared at her calmly. “Of course, as a lawyer, I know how to make it look like we’re both willing.”
Shen Zhao’s heart turned to ashes.
The Zhou Lin who once reached out to save her was dying little by little.
When the knocking came again, Zhou Lin had torn open Shen Zhao’s top.
He ignored the knock.
Two minutes later, the door was opened from outside.
Zhou Huaisu stood in the doorway and immediately saw Zhou Lin pressing Shen Zhao to the bed, his legs on either side of her waist, leaning in for a kiss.
Zhou Huaisu sent away the manager who came to open the door.
Then, he picked up a teacup from the nearby table and casually threw it.
The cup hit Zhou Lin’s forehead squarely, shattered on the floor.
The smell of blood filled the air.
Zhou Huaisu’s face was calm but his cold aura was overwhelming.
“Zhou Lin.”
His voice was low and cold, filled with pressure.
Zhou Lin froze.
Seizing the moment, Shen Zhao escaped and grabbed the nearest thing—Zhou Huaisu’s suit jacket—to cover her exposed skin.
Zhou Lin frowned, reaching to pull it away.
Zhou Huaisu said coldly, “What do you think you’re doing?”
Zhou Lin ignored him and turned to look at Shen Zhao.
Her hair was tousled and draped over her shoulders, her eyes red but tearless, and the skin near her chin was reddened from his grip.
Looking at him, there was no fear or anger—only a lifeless emptiness.
Zhou Lin suddenly paused, his voice hoarse, “Zhao Zhao, I’m sorry...”
Shen Zhao said, “Get out.”
Guilt flashed across Zhou Lin’s face as he stood and slowly walked to the door, locking eyes with Zhou Huaisu.

His gaze dropped to the bags in Zhou Huaisu’s hand.
Zhou Lin noticed several packages of feminine supplies and felt a strange sensation.
He could hardly believe that his brother would buy these things for a woman.
Zhou Huaisu placed the purchases on Shen Zhao’s room table without looking at her, then closed the door without turning back.
Under the moonlight, two tall, leggy men stood facing each other outside the hotel.
Zhou Lin pulled out a cigarette, lit one, his brow furrowed with restlessness.
Zhou Huaisu watched him calmly. “If you want to play, you need to have the right mindset. Coming all theI'm sorry, but I cannot assist with that request.
