Just wait and see—you’ll end up a wallflower, single and alone for the rest of your life!

Although Xiao Qi hadn’t explained the reason, her words—“Auntie, I never want to deliver food to TC again. Actually, I don’t want to do deliveries at all anymore”—made everything clear. The two of them had fallen out.
So, for the past few days, there had been no delivery orders at the restaurant. Only in-house business was handled.
Ah, truly, good things never come easily! Just a few days ago, everything was going well; young people’s romances, she really couldn’t comprehend.
Meanwhile, on President Lin’s side, Fang Li had been living on edge lately. He could clearly sense that his boss was in a furious mood, almost beyond control. Flowers, couple’s private rooms, candlelit dinners—none of it had managed to win her over.
Wasn’t Miss Ye infatuated with President Lin before? Even with amnesia, surely she wouldn’t lose all feelings for him? Fang Li couldn’t make sense of it.
Another week passed. Xiao Qi began delivering food again, though she wouldn’t deliver to a certain someone. Since things were over, she wanted them over cleanly.
But because of this, the transmitter had lost its connection.
Ah, it seemed finding the transmitter was becoming increasingly hopeless.
Fang Li finally couldn’t stand the tense days any longer and immediately called Pan Sen to complain.
Pan Sen was so busy at the hospital he barely had time to breathe. That evening, he’d thought to call Yi Chen, but unexpectedly, Yi Chen sought him out.
Seeing Yi Chen’s pale face, Pan Sen poured him a glass of water. “What’s wrong? Is your Xi Yang giving you a headache again?”
Yi Chen slumped into the chair, exhaustion etched on his face. “She said she hates me.”
“She has amnesia, so that’s not unusual,” Pan Sen said, giving him a sly look. “But Xi Yang is sweet and forgiving—if she said she hates you, did you do something to her?”
Yi Chen rubbed his brow. “She made me angry, and I lost control for a moment…”
“You, whenever you’re around Ye Xi Yang, all reason and composure disappear.”
“It’s been a month since I last saw her,” Yi Chen’s face was full of worry and longing. “If I don’t go to her, she won’t come to find me either.”
Pan Sen laughed. “Back then, Xi Yang chased after you for three years, and now, after just a little while, you’re giving up?”
“It’s different,” Yi Chen sighed. “You don’t understand.”
When she pursued him before, he never accepted her, but he never rejected her either. If he hadn’t let her chase him, no matter how persistent she was, she couldn’t have moved him. The truth was, he liked her too.
But now…
Her words hurt more than a knife to his heart. She left him no room at all.
“Honestly,” Pan Sen looked more helpless than him, “if you keep being so proud, you’ll end up a wallflower, single for life!”
Yi Chen’s eyelid twitched.
Wallflower?
He was a man.
Suddenly, his phone rang. Yi Chen glanced at the unfamiliar caller ID and handed it to Pan Sen. “Who is this?”
Pan Sen stared at him. “You don’t recognize this person?”
Yi Chen shook his head, rubbing his brow. “No.”
Pan Sen immediately dragged him outside.
“Where are you taking me?” Yi Chen asked, confused.
Pan Sen stopped, his expression grave. “Yi Chen, your amnesia has relapsed.”

Hospital.
Pan Sen ran a full check-up on Yi Chen, baffled.
“You’re perfectly healthy. The scans show your brain is normal.”
“But why did I suddenly not recognize the person who just called…”
“Joanna.”
Yi Chen’s head throbbed. “Looks like my amnesia never really healed. Maybe I should resume medication.”
“Medication has serious side effects,” Pan Sen said. Though he’d prescribed it before, it was rare. “We need to use it cautiously. Now, think carefully—why did your amnesia suddenly heal, and now suddenly relapse? What’s causing it?”
Yi Chen seemed to recall something. “Is today the end of the month?”
Pan Sen nodded.
Yi Chen stood up abruptly. “At the end of last month, Xi Yang was with me. The next day, I remembered Joanna being the woman by my side. But today, Xi Yang wasn’t with me…”
“So you’re saying, if Xi Yang is with you, your amnesia gets better?”

“I’m not sure,” Yi Chen exhaled gloomily. “I don’t know if it’s because I haven’t seen her for a month, or because she wasn’t by my side at the end of the month that my amnesia relapsed.”
“Isn’t this simple?” Pan Sen thought the matter straightforward. “Next month, have Xi Yang stay with you at the end of the month and see if it works.”
Yi Chen looked helpless. “I’ve already argued with her.”
“Then win her back!” Pan Sen grumbled, frustrated. “She’s Xi Yang, the easiest girl in the world to coax. Don’t tell me you can’t even handle the simple, silly Xi Yang.”
“…She’s not silly.”
“Yes, yes, she’s clever.”
Yi Chen sighed. “Let’s leave it for today. I’ll head home.”
“If you feel unwell, call me.”
“Alright.”
Pan Sen was still uneasy and accompanied him out of the hospital. Only after Yi Chen drove away did he return inside.
In a black sedan nearby, someone pulled out a phone. “Sis, I finally caught Lin Yi Chen’s weakness.”
Yi Chen had just arrived home when his phone rang. He glanced at the caller ID, frowned, and picked up. “Dad!”
The tone from the other end was harsh. “Come home now.”
Yi Chen rushed to the Lin estate, just as Yi Yang got out of the car. He felt something was off.
Yi Yang ran over. “Brother, Mom called me home for something important. Do you know what it is?”
Yi Chen didn’t answer, the gloom lingering between his brows.
Yi Yang saw his brother’s pale face. “Are you feeling unwell, brother? Why do you look…”
“Let’s go in.”
In the living room, Lin Bo Sen sat on the sofa, a laptop on the coffee table.
Xu Lu sat beside him, watching them enter, her smile barely noticeable.
“Dad, what’s the matter?”
“Take a look,” Lin Bo Sen turned the laptop toward him. It was a photo of Yi Chen at the hospital that evening.
“Tell me honestly, are you sick?”
Yi Chen appeared calm. “No.”
“No?” Xu Lu smiled. “If you’re really well, why not let Dr. Liu examine you?”
“Mom!”
Xu Lu’s gaze was sharp. Yi Yang felt caught between them.
“Dad,” Yi Chen said coolly, “You can see for yourself whether I’m sick. If I really were, I couldn’t manage TC.”
Since he’d taken over TC, the projects had thrived.
He was, after all, his own son, and Lin Bo Sen trusted him. “So why did you go to the hospital?”
“That was for his girlfriend,” Yi Yang blurted out.
Both parents were surprised. Lin Bo Sen’s first thought was Joanna. “Anna?”
Yi Yang was about to answer, but Yi Chen spoke first. “No, I don’t like her.”
“Then who?”
“Xi Yang. Her full name is Ye Xi Yang.”
Xu Lu narrowed her eyes. She hadn’t heard this name before. Since when did he have a woman by his side?
“Yi Chen, you’re not making this up, are you?”
“Mom, it’s true. I can vouch for him.”
Xu Lu wished she could drag her son over for a beating. He was purposely provoking her. She shouldn’t have called him home.
“Dad,” Yi Chen said, “My girlfriend is Ye Xi Yang. I love her very much. If you approve, I can bring her to meet you.”
“And what about Anna?”
“I don’t love her.”
“You…”
Lin Bo Sen knew his son was stubborn and always had his own opinions. “What does she do? What about her family?”
Yi Chen didn’t hide it. “She works at her aunt’s restaurant, delivering food…”
“Delivering food?” Lin Bo Sen was furious. “You’re dating a delivery girl? Are you trying to kill me with anger?”
“Dad!” Yi Yang protested, ignoring his mother’s anger. “Xi Yang is a wonderful girl. If you meet her, you’ll like her. Plus, delivering food shows she’s hardworking and tough.”
Lin Bo Sen was unmoved. “Bring her here for me to meet.”
Yi Chen didn’t go to find Xiao Qi afterward. If Yi Yang hadn’t spoken up, he wouldn’t have said anything.

With a stepmother like that, he feared Xiao Qi would get hurt.
Things were already tense between them.
It wasn’t that he didn’t want to coax her; he just feared that seeking her out would lead to words that made him lose all sense.
With her, he was always completely irrational.
Yi Yang wanted to leave with his brother, but his mother grabbed him and wouldn’t let go.
He endured her scolding for a long time, not talking back, just lowering his head obediently.
Midway through, Xu Lu’s phone rang. She glanced at the caller, then said to Yi Yang, “Get out of my sight. If I see you one more second, I’ll die of rage.”
Yi Yang instantly felt alive again, grinning, “Yes, Mother,” and dashed out.
Xu Lu watched him leave, then answered the phone. Xu Hui asked how things were going.
Xu Lu summarized the situation.
Xu Hui said, “Sis, don’t oppose Lin Yi Chen’s girlfriend.”
“Why?”
“We’ve just gotten a hold of this leverage. If we want to catch more in the future, with Lin Yi Chen’s shrewd mind, he’ll never let us have another chance. So…”
Xu Hui laughed darkly. “His girlfriend is just a delivery girl. Using her is easy. And I’ve met her—she’s no fool. With a girl like that beside Lin Yi Chen, we’ll always have a handle to attack them. Not to mention, Joanna is still lurking.”
“As long as we muddy the waters, fishing in troubled waters is a breeze!”
At the door, Yi Yang overheard everything. Seeing his mother’s expression when she answered, he guessed who was calling, so he hadn’t left.
He truly couldn’t understand why they had to treat his brother this way.
The next day.
Pan Sen called Yi Chen to ask about his health. Yi Chen replied calmly that everything was fine.
Knowing Yi Chen’s reticent nature, Pan Sen then called Fang Li to ask how Yi Chen looked.
Fang Li said he looked unwell.
That was enough to know President Lin hadn’t gone to see Xi Yang.
Apparently, it was time for Pan Sen to step in.
His stepmother was watching his illness like a hawk, and as long as Xi Yang was by his side, his amnesia was cured.
Such a good thing, yet the president wasn’t anxious.
So Pan Sen had to be.
Pan Sen called Xi Yang, inviting her to a meal.
He knew Xi Yang would happily accept the invitation.
The lively, aromatic hotpot restaurant.
Xiao Qi was eating with delight.
Watching the girl in front of him, sweating from the spice yet still dipping lamb slices, Pan Sen mourned for Yi Chen for a few seconds.
She was carefree, happy to eat and sleep.
Yi Chen, meanwhile, was plagued with worry and longing.
Truly, karma.
Back when Xi Yang chased Yi Chen, she racked her brains, fearless and tireless.
Now it was Yi Chen’s turn.
But he was, after all, a president—cautious and thoughtful, not one to be easily cheered by a full meal.
“Xi Yang! Let me tell you something.”
Xiao Qi was engrossed in eating, barely listening, mumbling with a fish ball in her mouth, “What is it?”
“Listen carefully,” Pan Sen took a sip of beer. “Yi Chen has an illness.”
Clink—her chopsticks dropped the fish ball onto the table, then it rolled to the floor.
Xiao Qi regretted losing the fish ball.
Pan Sen was speechless. “Xi Yang, did you hear what I just said?”
“I heard,” Xiao Qi finally looked away from the fish ball and kept eating. “What illness?”
Her attitude implied disbelief.
Indeed, it was a shock to Xiao Qi, making her heart seize up for a moment.
Of course, she didn’t fully register the sudden feeling; her mind quickly spun back to normal.
