Chapter 131: A Business Trip to District 11
According to the surviving data records of the Hunter, the rules of the Super Soldier Organization are relatively fair. Its high command has no interest in ruling over other civilizations; the ultimate purpose of the organization is to resist and eliminate monster civilizations. It could be said that the organization is filled with warriors who are only interested in fighting monsters; even the super-scientists within their ranks exist solely to support the fighters.
Whenever a new civilization is discovered, the organization’s greatest interest, rather than governance, lies in uncovering the unique traits of the new species. Every race possesses distinct characteristics, and the reason the Super Soldier Organization can continuously advance is due to the steady influx of new super soldiers joining their ranks.
With so many civilizations discovered and linked together through the common cause of fighting monsters—and with the Super Soldier Organization taking the lead—it is natural that an entity similar to a United Nations would emerge. However, that is outside the scope of the organization's concerns. Its sole objective is to cultivate super soldiers and deploy them to combat monsters. Nevertheless, it is highly protective of its own; in any civilization where a super soldier resides, no hostile civilization is permitted to cause trouble.
The universe is vast, and it is inevitable that not all civilizations are peace-loving; the situation is much like the geopolitical landscape on Earth. Therefore, Zhou Shu’s registration with the headquarters and his subsequent progress through the tiers of assessments to become a super soldier is quite beneficial for human civilization. It is akin to a nation on Earth possessing strong martial power while also being under the protection of a great power.
Furthermore, according to the Hunter’s analysis, the signal from headquarters is so incredibly weak that it indicates the solar system is at a vast distance from the main base. Even if the headquarters obtained precise spatial coordinates, it would take several years for them to arrive. This is the nature of an unfamiliar star sector; only after the solar system constructs an interstellar jump relay station can a close connection with the primary civilization be established. It is much like the history of human pioneering. From point A to point B, one would not initially send a massive force, as the risk of total annihilation due to unforeseen accidents on the journey is too great. At first, small squads of explorers set out, traversing mountains and rivers, mapping the path over a long period. Once point B is reached, a connection is not truly established; it is only considered a preliminary link once routes are planned and caravans can pass through. Only when highways and railways are built, and an airport is constructed at point B to allow for aircraft, can one truly say they have "taken flight."
With this understanding, Zhou Shu has nothing to fear. There is, however, one remaining issue: the Hunter itself does not know how long it has been disconnected from headquarters. It has only detected intermittent, faint signals and has not established a formal connection, so it remains unaware of the current situation at the base. Nonetheless, in general, the stronger Zhou Shu becomes, the more benefits he will undoubtedly reap. Much like the Demon Suppression Division issuing salaries to demon hunters, the Super Soldier headquarters provides benefits to its warriors, and there are points awarded for slaying monsters.
As for Zhou Shu’s current status, after passing a few more assessments to become a full-fledged super soldier, he should be able to accumulate a significant number of benefits. At the very least, the source energy that should have been provided since his recruit stage must be supplemented—that is the bare minimum. Thus, Zhou Shu’s primary goal is to continue growing his strength, fully connect to the headquarters system, and eventually go "bully the kids" to charge straight toward the "Super Soldier" rank. There is no reason for hesitation, as increasing his strength is something he intended to do regardless.
However, with only 13 points of source energy left, he is not in a safe position—it would be exhausted in two nights—so he needs to find more energy income. But... thanks to the Great Qin Empire’s Demon Suppression Division’s heavy-handed suppression of the Ascension Society these past two days, the territory of the Great Qin is currently exceptionally stable. Not only do demons and monsters dare not show their faces, but even "ordinary" criminals have become scarce.
The criminals are terrified. Usually, they face the police, and while they might be hard to catch if they are careful, they would eventually be wanted nationwide and caught if they weren't. But since discovering that "demons and monsters" exist in the world, they have realized they are nothing more than small fries. When the demons were wreaking havoc, they thought their opportunity had arrived, believing the world was about to become the playground of the wicked. Instead, in the blink of an eye, the largest organization of demons and monsters in the country was wiped out. This shook them to their core.
Especially after the government released the combat footage, the nation—and even the world—fell into a moment of silence. In the video, the Demon Suppression Division was seen to be well-equipped and powerful, while the illegal organization was rampant. Even after transforming into terrifying forms, capable of tearing down buildings with ease, they were forced into a steady retreat under the assault of the Demon Suppression Division. The "inhuman" warriors and monsters were deeply unsettling for normal people to watch, a feeling that only changed with the appearance of the "Super Vanguard." If "monsters" could rely on their talents to fight, humans could do the same with technology.
The most intense part of the battle was undoubtedly the main theater. When people saw the "Four-Armed Mahakala" in the video, their breathing hitched involuntarily. It was too terrifying! They had seen in previous videos that most monsters could transform, not only becoming grotesque in appearance but also growing in height, usually exceeding two meters. While most people aren't taller than two meters, individuals of 2.2 or 2.3 meters do exist. But Mahakala was absurdly large. The lobby of the Changsheng Hall was 6.6 meters high, and when Mahakala stood inside, it nearly reached the ceiling.
Moreover, regardless of whether they were monsters or not, they had previously only been seen with two arms, yet Mahakala possessed four! It was truly worthy of the title "King of Monsters." Thirty seconds into the fight, it acted like a "shorty" and tore off the first-floor ceiling. The two fought with increasing ferocity, dismantling the building as easily as a child bored with building blocks. Later, just as the "shorty" was about to be defeated, another person suddenly appeared, and together they managed to kill Mahakala. However, as that person joined the fray, the battle became even more intense, causing the nearby cameras to be destroyed. The footage had to switch to a distant view, so no one knew what the newcomer looked like. They only knew that this person used Gun-Fu, and the combat was incredibly stylish.
With such a powerful monster killed by the Demon Suppression Division, the savvy demons and monsters naturally became cowards, and the ignorant ones were terrified. After all, compared to such massive entities, their small arms and legs were no match for the Demon Suppression Division. Even though the division’s mission is to suppress demons, now that the monsters have gone into hiding, what if the division decides to stretch their muscles and "meddle in other people's business"? Under these circumstances, demons and monsters have either gone into hiding or fled the Great Qin, leaving Zhou Shu with no one to "deliver the goods."
However, an opportunity soon arrived.
"What? You want me to go on a business trip to District 11?"
"Yes," the Director nodded. "There are indications that the situation in District 11 is not optimistic."
"Cough, it actually has to do with us. Our major actions scared off some demons and monsters, so they fled to District 11. Now they are fighting for territory with the local monsters there, causing many casualties, which has led the District 11 government to request international aid."
"Our proposal is to send a shipment of 'Super Vanguard' armor to be used by the Great Qin troops stationed in District 11 to help them maintain order."
"With the armor being shipped, technical personnel must accompany it. While we will send several demon hunters along, you are the most suitable choice because you are technically proficient, possess great combat strength, and are still unknown to the outside world."
